Stride Values

Vision

Stride, Incorporated, is committed to the practice of ethical standards and conduct consistent with the Stride Mission. Our mission shall be reflected in the managements' relationships with all individuals in our global market place.

We will endeavor to operate Stride by a system of participative management in which management working with all employees will seek to find the most effective way to accomplish our work. We will structure our organization so there is direct communication between all employees, the management, and the President. Finally, we will strive to function as a team and make decisions based on the input from all members for the good of the organization.

Stride management will maintain high ethical standards, individually and as a company, in our relations with all individuals, internally and externally. We will constantly strive to be the best, the brightest, the safest, and the most professional in conducting our business. We are not afraid of change; we seek the opportunity it creates. It is our goal to constantly deliver top quality products and service, whatsoever our individual roles in the company are.

Values

Only by instilling a high moral vision in our management team can Stride managers be effective in furthering the mission of Stride Inc. Certain ethics, beliefs and values, must be adopted as codes, or principles of conduct where our managers are called to set a positive example for the rest of the team. Each individual manager should embrace the concept of personal development and growth and assist others in the pursuit of the continual improvement of the individual. Each manager must seek to understand what is truthful, right and good. Managers in their role in the organization must recognize, at times, a role of self sacrifice, where their patience, compassion and understanding may wear thin, but that they can not lose focus on the mission and their role as a leader in the work community.

On the Human Condition

Our human resources are the most valuable resource in the company. As a community we at Stride can help each other grow and mature in wisdom. The health and longevity of the organization depends on the growth and maturity of the individuals within it. It is our belief that the managers' role is to help serve those around them so that the organization and the individuals continually benefit from the fruits of success. It is imperative that the basic skill sets needed to operate the business must be maintained. High turnover leaves the management team in a constant costly training loop. If we provide a fair wage and positive work environment we will minimize turnover. We believe all working environments embody relationships and personal issues, which find their way into the work environment. Therefore, we must create a community of support for individuals who struggle to solve personal problems and in return join the process of helping others

We Value the Diversity of Individuals

Stride also recognizes that our society is a vast and beautiful mixture of diversity of race, culture, religion, age and gender. It is our belief that each individual within the organization potentially has a unique positive perspective to contribute to the group as a whole provided we approach our differences with a spirit of respect and well being. Therefore, we look to hire individuals from all ages and backgrounds. We at Stride embrace diversity! We strive to be a leader of ethics in the business world. We believe that corporations, and the individuals that make them up, can play a major role in solving social and economical problems facing mankind. Rather than subscribing to a world view of dog eat dog, we believe partnering, honesty, integrity and responsible business leadership, will help shape the future of a healthy one world market place.

We Value the Elderly

The value of the elderly is far richer than some consider. The elderly should not be treated as an unproductive burden to society.   Their age can provide unique opportunities in the work environment.   The elderly can bring a degree of peace, harmony and wisdom to the group. They truly are rich in wisdom if given the time to reflect on problems. We must always seek for their inputs or we lose the opportunity to gain insight from their life experience.   An individual's positive role in society does not have to stop at a certain age; retirement should always remain a choice for the individual.   Their life experience is enormous compared to that of the younger generations. We believe that in old age individuals can bear much fruit, and it is an enormous error of the younger if we dismiss this valuable resource. We, as Stride managers, can only hope to be able to grow old with grace and dignity and a place of belonging. Therefore, we must create an environment which provides opportunities for the elderly.

We Value the Young

The youth are the future of our business.   When inspired in the right way, the youth are full of energy and positive spirit. Each manager must be willing to impart his or her skills and knowledge to the next generation.   The world is completely ahead of them, and their dreams can reach unimaginable heights.   Teaching the proper values and ethics in business is one of the most important roles of management.   This can be accomplished through personal conversations and by example.   Management must not oppress them, or misguide them, rather its role is to focus, direct and inspire them to reach and succeed. The youth are very resilient and creative and if we can keep from looking down on their lack of experience, we will often be surprised.   They must be allowed to try their ideas and not focus on their failures, rather taught to learn from their mistakes and misconceptions, to get up and try again. Management must protect the positive spirit of the youth.

We Value the Handicapped

The handicapped have more to teach us than can be described in words.   They truly are blessings from God.   A school for the handicapped run by the State of Virginia and this organization's existence are the direct result of a young handicapped boy who only reached the age of 8 and died 20 years before Stride built its first pen. His life somehow has touched more people than most of us will meet in a lifetime. We, at Stride, value all life and our eyes are opened to the lessons and goodness that flow from such special people. We believe all people are special. We find that when we make a place for a special person in our organization it adds enormous value to everyone's life experiences. Our hearts become opened to the human condition!! We believe that in the heart of most every person echoes a goodness that can be unlocked and we cannot close our hearts to the people.
